My 2015 in Film

This is probably the most consistent feature on this blog. Doing it well into January also seems to be consistent. Coincidentally the 2014 edition was done on this exact day last year. As with last year’s list I will include movies watched this year. In keeping with tradition I will shame myself by indicating which movies were actually watched in cinema.

  • Ant-Man*
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron*
  • Cinderella*
  • Fantastic Four*
  • Inside Out
  • Jurassic World
  • Mr. Holmes*
  • Pitch Perfect 2
  • Spectre*
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens*

Well that is weak, after watching fifteen movies in 2014 I’m back down to ten like 2013’s list. This time however seven of these ten were in cinema as opposed to the eight out of fifteen last year.

I ended off the previous edition by saying:

This time around I’ll say that though it’s not really worth writing home about perhaps a text message would be appropriate.

This time I can say that though the quantity has decreased the percentage of those seen in cinema has increased so it’s not all bad. This year I must endeavour to watch more and keep the in cinema percentage up.

So it’s already the twelfth of the month and I am only making this list now. At the end of every year, since the beginning of this blog anyway, I create a list showing how many movies I watched in that year. Most of the time I end up only making the list in the early days of January so if I watched any movies from the past year before the post then they will be included. If you considered that cheating then so be it. To make myself feel bad for watching pirated movies I will indicate which movies were actually watched in cinema.

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier*
  • Dawn of the Planet of the Apes*
  • Divergent
  • Guardians of the Galaxy*
  • The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies*
  • The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1*
  • How to Train Your Dragon 2
  • Maleficent*
  • The Maze Runner
  • The Other Woman
  • Rio 2
  • Transformers: Age of Extinction*
  • Vampire Academy
  • X-Men: Days of Future Past*

So fifteen movies isn’t too bad, especially considering that the 2013 list only had ten. Also eight out of fifteen in cinema compared to four out ten is a good improvement.

My 2013 post ended with:

Clearly 2013 wasn’t a particularly good year for me and movies. Here’s hoping that the 2014 list will be something worthy of writing home about.

This time around I’ll say that though it’s not really worth writing home about perhaps a text message would be appropriate.

So I made a post like this last year and I want to make this into another series on my blog. This is mostly because it’s a regular structure that doesn’t require much thinking as clearly I seem to have forgotten how to write more creative/personal posts.

Anyway moving on; I’ve pretty much copied and paste the format from last year’s post so anyone who had a look at that post might notice the similarities, I think I might make a couple of changes though.

So season two started last year, then I went on holiday and only got my computer back some weeks after returning and have been waiting for a Monday to get back into the swing of things. I managed to miss a few and didn’t want to switch up the schedule.

If you’re not familiar with the formula by now have a look at episode one as a yardstick.

Ok into the episode we go:

20: The Temper Trap – Leaving the Heartbreak Hotel

19: Two Door Cinema Club – Next Year

The Temper Trap and Two Door Cinema Club have to be my two favourite Indie bands so yay

18: The Temper Trap – I’m Gonna Wait

17: The Temper Trap – Rabbit Hole

Looks like the beginnings of a Temper Trap spree, though two in a row does not a spree make…

16: The Temper Trap – Never Again

Ok three is almost definitely the beginnings of a spree.

Anyway that’s all for this week, stay tuned for episode three.

So I’m having a mixed episode of my bipolar disorder: “mild” mania and some depression thrown in for good measure. I thought… why not start a tumblr devoted to coffee. I mean for me coffee is just about as necessary as air. However due the mixed episode I can’t be having extra stimulants, so I’ve been near dying without coffee. Tomorrow I will have had a week of no coffee; for me that’s like I don’t know minimum three mugs a day so upwards of twenty one missed coffees.

The plan for this new tumblr is to share the coffees that I have, like instagram but no stupid editing, as well as introducing a new lexicon centered around coffee. At least I can do the coffee based terms’ definitions until I can start having coffee again. Then I thought maybe I should share my experiences as a gaymer, I tend to be drinking coffee when I play games sometimes, so it’s been decided that this tumblr should also be have gaming experiences. Such as opinions or reviews as well as crazy shit that has gone down whilst playing some video games.

So without further ado I present to you: Gayming and Coffee with Gehenna27

My 2013 in Film

So I’m really good at lists and not much else it seems. I’ve been making lists of movies since forever, well since I started my blog anyway. So this is generally how it goes. I decide somewhere around the beginning of a year to list all the movies I’ve watched belonging to the previous. Seeing as it never happens on New Year’s Day some films will end up being watched outside of their year. Anyway I doubt that an explanation was actually necessary but oh well. Also I like to indicate if it was actually in cinema that I watched it. Let’s begin shall we

  • After Earth
  • The Butler*
  • Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
  • The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug*
  • The Hunger Games: Catching Fire*
  • The Internship
  • Iron Man 3
  • Oz the Great and Powerful
  • Scary Movie 5
  • Thor: The Dark World*

Clearly 2013 wasn’t a particularly good year for me and movies. Here’s hoping that the 2014 list will be something worthy of writing home about.

I like making these posts, I can’t speak for you though. I don’t know when exactly I should start a new “season” maybe every three months though every four months might be better. Oh well let’s kick off Season 2. If you’ve been following you’ll know the deal, if you haven’t I’m sure you’ll understand. Maybe, oh well.

25:The Tenper Trap – Want

24:Ellie Goulding – Explosions

23:The Temper Trap – Leaving the Heartbreak Hotel

22:Ellie Goulding – Hanging On

21: Ellie Goulding – Joy

Well it looks like Ellie Goulding was the artis du jour of this episode. Just so you know I don’t take my data from today’s list for the upcoming episodes. Rather I let the list evolve and change as it does.
