Archive for March, 2013

Okay I haven’t made one of these lists in a while, at least not one that escaped being nothing but an unfinished draft. Seeing as I’m only publishing this post today I have included the movies that I watched up until and including the 28th February. I’ve also indicated which movies I actually watched in cinema just for just.

  • The Amazing Spider-Man
  • The Avengers*
  • The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel*
  • Brave
  • Chronicle
  • The Dark Knight Rises
  • Dark Shadows
  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey*
  • The Hunger Games*
  • Ice Age: Continental Drift
  • Jack Reacher*
  • John Carter
  • Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted*
  • Magic Mike
  • Men in Black 3
  • Mirror Mirror
  • The Odd Life of Timothy Green
  • The Pirates! Band of Misfits
  • Prometheus
  • Quartet*
  • Ruby Sparks
  • Skyfall*
  • Snow White and the Huntsman*
  • This Means War
  • Wrath of the Titans

I didn’t watch as many in cinema as I would have liked.

So now that the Academy Awards have taken place and most people in the world know who won and might or might not have watched the awards ceremony yet.

My previous post was a list of the nominees and my predictions so it only seems just that I should make a comparison. This post is going to be quite clumsy as I envisioned making a table of comparison only to find that I cannot make tables. So instead I have listed the categories and the winners. I will then place my prediction in brackets next to the winner, only if my prediction was wrong. So here goes:

  • Best Picture:                                                        Argo
  • Best Director:                                                      Ang Lee
  • Best Actor:                                                           Daniel Day-Lewis
  • Best Actress:                                                       Jennifer Lawrence
  • Best Supporting Actor:                                   Christoph Waltz
  • Best Supporting Actress:                               Anne Hathaway
  • Best Writing – Original Screenplay:           Django Unchained (Zero Dark Thirty)
  • Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay:          Argo
  • Best Animated Feature:                                 Brave
  • Best Foreign Language Film:                       Amour
  • Best Documentary – Feature:                      Searching for Sugar Man
  • Best Documentary – Short Subject:          Inocente
  • Best Live Action Short Film:                       Curfew (Asad)
  • Best Animated Short Film:                           Paperman
  • Best Original Score:                                         Life of Pi
  • Best Original Song:                                           Skyfall
  • Best Sound Editing:                                          Skyfall
  • Best Sound Mixing:                                          Les Misérables
  • Best Production Design:                                Lincoln (Lincoln)
  • Best Cinematography:                                    Life of Pi
  • Best Makeup and Hairstyling:                     Les Misérables
  • Best Costume Design:                                     Anna Karenina
  • Best Film Editing:                                             Argo
  • Best Visual Effects:                                           Life of Pi (Prometheus)

So in the end I only got four wrong, not too bad if I do say so myself.
