My Oscar Predictions vs. The Winners List

Posted: March 1, 2013 in Uncategorized

So now that the Academy Awards have taken place and most people in the world know who won and might or might not have watched the awards ceremony yet.

My previous post was a list of the nominees and my predictions so it only seems just that I should make a comparison. This post is going to be quite clumsy as I envisioned making a table of comparison only to find that I cannot make tables. So instead I have listed the categories and the winners. I will then place my prediction in brackets next to the winner, only if my prediction was wrong. So here goes:

  • Best Picture:                                                        Argo
  • Best Director:                                                      Ang Lee
  • Best Actor:                                                           Daniel Day-Lewis
  • Best Actress:                                                       Jennifer Lawrence
  • Best Supporting Actor:                                   Christoph Waltz
  • Best Supporting Actress:                               Anne Hathaway
  • Best Writing – Original Screenplay:           Django Unchained (Zero Dark Thirty)
  • Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay:          Argo
  • Best Animated Feature:                                 Brave
  • Best Foreign Language Film:                       Amour
  • Best Documentary – Feature:                      Searching for Sugar Man
  • Best Documentary – Short Subject:          Inocente
  • Best Live Action Short Film:                       Curfew (Asad)
  • Best Animated Short Film:                           Paperman
  • Best Original Score:                                         Life of Pi
  • Best Original Song:                                           Skyfall
  • Best Sound Editing:                                          Skyfall
  • Best Sound Mixing:                                          Les Misérables
  • Best Production Design:                                Lincoln (Lincoln)
  • Best Cinematography:                                    Life of Pi
  • Best Makeup and Hairstyling:                     Les Misérables
  • Best Costume Design:                                     Anna Karenina
  • Best Film Editing:                                             Argo
  • Best Visual Effects:                                           Life of Pi (Prometheus)

So in the end I only got four wrong, not too bad if I do say so myself.
